ACIM Lesson 234 notes.

Father, today I am your Son again.

You belong to me.

“Today we will anticipate the time when dreams of sin and guilt are gone, and we have reached the holy peace we never left.” [CE W-234.1:1]

Can someone be addicted to guilt?

This lesson is about joining with our Source, Creator, Father-Mother-God once again. I have played the game of separation from God for many lifetimes. Guilt was the tool able to keep love at a distance. The feelings I feel from it are the evidence that I am comparing and judging myself against others.

When I see everyone as separate, I go around labeling good and bad. This results in me feeling bad (guilt) that I diminished someone else and I can also label myself as bad when someone complains about something that I do not to their liking but, more so, when I judge my own behaviors as wrong or uncaring.

What reward might I receive from perpetuating guilt feelings within myself?

My ego gets a boost from feeling like a sorry victim to this life. In this way I can feel different and special. I make myself separate from everyone. I provide myself specialness that I believe God would not provide me.

This I have chosen over the Love of God for me.

Father-Mother-God, today I am Your Child again. Please hold me.

Mother-Father, I am Your holy Child.

Welcome. What should I know today?

(This is me with words of welcome, waiting for His step toward me as offered in the Part II Introduction.)

[Love exists always whether you want to see it or not. Love is foundational, it manifests all you see and all you are.]

Love is causal to all I see! But is it even in the violent?

[Desires for love and peace can bring actions that harm. Fear is not opposite to Love but longing for what Love offers – peace, joy, strength, truth, light/healing.]

I hadn’t thought of light as healing. I will spend time with this. _/\_

“… we have reached the holy peace we never left.”

I thought of ‘the Prodigal Son’ as I read this line in the lesson. (This parable was also mentioned this morning in Fr. Richard’s Daily Mediation. His reflection was about restorative justice.)

In the lesson, the words about timelessness and continuity seem confusing on their own. Reflection on them under the lens of ‘the Prodigal Son’ helped me to understand. The son’s perspective of leaving and forgetting the Father’s Love is not how the Father sees the son. The love for the son is continuous; the Father’s patience, in knowing the son will return, is unwavering and therefore timeless.

God Loves me.

“This we accept as wholly true today.”

Father, today I am Your kid again.

“We reached the holy peace we have never left.”

We have someone in the family who is ill and may die. When I go into contemplation, thoughts of him arise. Prayer for most benevolent outcome.

I feel he is happy, ready to return to the holy peace. I feel glad for him.

I’ve been told he holds a great belief in God. May he allow all the blessing of his Father reach him.

Amen.
