I am not a body. I am spirit.

“The mind can be made free when it no longer sees itself as in a body, firmly tied to it, and sheltered by its presence.” [CE W-199.1:4]

It seems to me that letting go of identifying with my body would relieve so many thoughts of concern for its well-being as well as planning for the future. Being in a body while in this world as a spiritual being, I wonder what would this freedom of the mind look like?

This has me thinking of the idea of miracle-mindedness that we are introduced to in the first chapter of the Text. As a miracle is an extension of love which brings about a change of perspective (and much more), can a free mind be cleared of all the worldly clutter thereby open for love to flow in?

In the Text, CE T.2.VIII.1, it says that miracle-mindedness means right-mindedness. This seems subjective as what is right is a judgement based on experience and perspective. From the Course’s teachings, right action would mean extending love, listening to HS, and letting go of personal thoughts to see the situation differently (not as expected).

Will my mind find freedom with this guidance? HS says, yes! I think this would look like just trusting in HS’s guidance, acting as guided, and releasing any of my own judgements about what happens. Also, my instincts tells me that happiness would be abundant from watching the miracles unfold around me. (How can happiness not be present if I am in the flow of Love?)

“The mind that serves the Holy Spirit is unlimited forever.” (para.2)

It has been an interesting 24 hours as I watch my mind wobble due to a stressful encounter. The body feels anxious, so the mind is working away looking for solutions. The ego pulls one way toward defensiveness, drafting many words into imaginary conversations. It has decided it knows how the other person is feeling, upset with me, doesn’t like this, so produces long explanations that it believes will change how the other person feels. I don’t choose this action, but still it keeps trying to influence me.

My decision was to give 24 hours’ time before deciding on any responses. I wanted the reactionary energy to diminish and for me to have time to hear from HS, Love. Learning of gratitude in lesson 197 helped me to choose to not block Love’s flow in the relationship. This lesson is reinforcing my stance against the pull of ego, to not only choose to be in my soul’s heart-space but to also be in service to HS, Love.

Show me. Use me.

I bless this situation to be a growth point for all involved.

God’s will.

I find the lesson gives a process to help me to turn my life over to God’s will. I do not want all the worries, fears, and drama that identifying with a body holds. When I release my mind from attachment to the activities of the body the outcome is not eternal nothing. HS is there with a ‘to do’ list of activities for the body to get done in this world. I want to help this world but have no clue what to do or how to do it.

I am not a body, but I have a body, mind, and spirit. Use me Great Love!

My body is a blessed gift of Mother Earth and God. It is the vehicle in which I travel and observe this place. I am spirit made of Love and connected to my Source. When I listen, I can have the body act in the most loving direction for the highest good.
