In his commentary on this cameo, Robert Perry points out that Helen is resistant to Jesus guiding the trivial parts of her life, and that this is possibly her way of hiding behind her busyness to not do what God calls her to do, be a miracle worker.

I relate to this. I see it as fear of what God might ask me to do to help others in this crazy world. There are so many needy people.

I have lived as an introverted, self-centered, care-for-my-own doer. There was reward from my doing things this way — it boosted by ego and gave me self-worth. What will it mean to serve as I am guided? Scary!

Today, I step forward trusting where Christ will lead me. (I just had the thought that I will not just be dropped somewhere, but that Christ will be with me.)
