Forgiveness lets me know that minds are joined.

“Knowledge is restored after perception first is changed, and then gives way entirely to what remains forever past its highest reach.” (1.2)
I think that this line is saying that we arrive at a new level of understanding from, first our willingness to forgive and to see things differently. We are granted another perspective, releasing our limited view as we see the innocence and similarity to ourselves in our brothers and sisters. We then must acknowledge that ‘I don’t know’ but God knows, thereby leading us to a state of humility and awe.

“Forgiveness is the means for perception’s ending.” (1.1)
This is a deep lesson. Is it saying that just by changing our perception, whether correctly or not, that we move into a field of grace that is way past our understanding?
It is enough to let go of our perception (judgements & beliefs) for healing, brought in by forgiveness, to relieve me.
I laugh as I think that perhaps all this life’s challenge requires is just to hold onto a continuous thought of ‘I don’t know’.

How are they joined?
We are told to change our our perception to move into forgiveness. We can open our mind’s to the other’s perception which are based on their experiences, fears, emotions, and needs. When we find empathy, then our hearts are opened.
If I couldn’t find empathy, then I would turn to my understanding that we are all cells in the body of Christ and, from there, surrender it to God. I don’t have to understand another person’s perspective to allow the healing of forgiveness to be in me.
“Forgiveness sweeps away distortions, and opens the hidden altar to the truth.” (1.4)
