“Remember me with favor, O my God.” ~ Nehemiah 13:31
Happy Sunday!
This morning Joel Osteen was speaking on declaring God’s favor. This message got me thinking back on an interview I saw on Oprah’s show a few weeks ago. It was on the “best of” show and replayed an interview between Oprah and Maya Angelou from back in the early nineties. Maya told of an experience that brought her to tears during the interview. She said she wept every time she thought of it. It was the realization years back that “God Loves me.” She and Oprah spoke it a few times and were obviously moved by it.
I have great respect for Maya so I think there is something there that I am not getting, and I want to have it, so I am going to reflect on the statement “God Loves me.”
When I was a child (two years ago 😉 ) and thought of God as the old man, somewhere in Heaven and separate from me, I can understand feeling gratitude for the love of a great Father. We all want the Love of parents and want them to feel proud of us.
Now I believe that God is everything. That quantum particles of energy have consciousness, awareness, the all knowing. This is the Christ Consciousness that each human soul is part of, the Source that all matter descends from.
So what does this mean to me to think that “God Loves me!”
What I am experiencing right now is my body beginning to give way to tears but my mind blocking the thoughts. Is what I am asking to know too awesome that I am blocking it?
In my mind I say to the Holy Spirit, “I need to receive it. I want to receive it.”
It came, with tears, sobs, and a runny nose. I must find a tissue …
Ok, ok, I’m ready to write again. What came through is how in my prayers I send Love and Gratitude out to those that I Love, to humanity, to Mother Earth, to nature, to the Universe. What came to my awareness is that the Universe, all of it, has Gratitude for ME!
I am inspired to post here that infamous quote from “A Return to Love” by Marianne Williamson. (btw, I just read this yesterday, it was in my inbox from “The Daily Love”, synchronicity is always working).
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. You’re playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson
Yes, God Loves ME!
I am part of the FLOW. I happily and Lovingly send out Gratitude and, as I am part of all that is, I receive it back. I now accept receipt of it.
I am feeling the serenity of acceptance.
Amen.
