T-16-VII The Escape from Vengeance.

“It is impossible to let the past go without relinquishing the special relationship. For the special relationship is an attempt to reenact the past and change it.” (1.1-2)

“The holy instant is the opposite of the ego’s fixed belief in salvation through vengeance for the past.” (7.3)

This section reminded me of early in my marriage, when we had fights. I recall crying, lying on the couch, because I was frustrated and dissatisfied because he would not validate my feelings. I see today that I was blessed to have a partner who would not validate my insanity.

My spiritual journey has regularly included events that have validated my choices to move toward God. I am graced with satisfaction in my relationship to God.

How does someone try to teach that to someone else?
