{"id":4912,"date":"2025-03-11T10:00:42","date_gmt":"2025-03-11T10:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/triciabatessmith.com:443\/?p=4912"},"modified":"2025-03-18T10:00:55","modified_gmt":"2025-03-18T10:00:55","slug":"we-have-made-something-beautiful","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/triciabatessmith.com:443\/index.php\/2025\/03\/11\/we-have-made-something-beautiful\/","title":{"rendered":"We Have Made Something Beautiful."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A poem by Tricia Bates Smith, 3-11-2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">We have made something beautiful. \nThrough the angst, passive aggression, \nand manipulation to control our little lives. \nWe\u2019ve come through as a couple with two souls \/shining brighter than when we began.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">We\u2019ve made it past the times of fairy tale partners, \nwith thoughts of you being who I expect you to be. \nTo now, awe at who we each are revealing of our inner lights, \nas we\u2019ve loosened our fantasy expectations from each other.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">We have made something lasting. Children and grandchildren in the this world \nwho can benefit from all of the personality muck we have cleared away. \nWe\u2019ve ridden the waves of love and frustration, joy and sadness, \nanxiety and peace to find each other still wanting to go further.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">What is it that lies ahead for us is unknown. \nWhat I can rely upon is your love \nwhich inspires me to be my best self \nso as to return that loving acceptance back to you.<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A poem by Tricia Bates Smith, 3-11-2025 We have made something beautiful.
