{"id":3511,"date":"2023-07-20T19:10:00","date_gmt":"2023-07-20T19:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/triciabatessmith.com\/?p=3511"},"modified":"2023-07-29T16:34:53","modified_gmt":"2023-07-29T16:34:53","slug":"i-expected-a-perfect-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/triciabatessmith.com:443\/index.php\/2023\/07\/20\/i-expected-a-perfect-world\/","title":{"rendered":"I expected a perfect world."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>TBS 7-20-2023 poem<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">Made in Your image, \nfilled with light, did I come shining into this world. \nA family of nine, \nall with struggles of dark and light on this human path. \nI didn\u2019t see it as I pranced around in my light filled bubble.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">A day came, \nwhen the laughter of those meant to love me, \nbroke me instead. \nI left that little girl, locked in my heart, \nand moved forward with walls to love.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">Rejected and discouraged, \nI took control \nto make the perfect world that is meant to be. \nI would figure it out without You. \nYou had betrayed me too.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">You did not leave me. \nAll the while, I pushed my way through this world. \nMid-life breakthrough, \nlonging for love, striving to give. \nAgain, I would figure it out without You.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">New eyes form, \nor maybe they are the original ones. \nBeauty in this world; \nbeauty within me; beauty within others. \nThey\u2019re doing the best that they can. And so it is with me.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">It\u2019s not a perfect world. \nEase rises and peace flows in. \nMy hands open to Your will, Your way. \nAnd there it is \u2013 I see it! \nThe perfect world surrounds me.<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TBS 7-20-2023 poem Made in Your image, filled with light, did I come shining into this world.
