“A Son of God is happy only if he knows he is with God. That is the only environment in which he will not experience strain, because that is where he belongs.” (2.6-7)

In his commentary, Robert Perry offers a symbol for the description of the two environments we can find ourselves in. This world is like a closed fist wrapped around our true desires and gifts. We must strain to pry the fingers back to expose what we think will make us happy. God’s state of grace is an open hand with all our gifts present for us to just notice and make us of.

God’s will for me is joy.
