Second thought – this phrase Fr. Richard has offered to us to notice to get past our first, initial, thoughts which are reactionary. This section explains this. The ego responds quickly into our minds. HS offers us true perception quickly to over-rule the fearful thought. Because the text says HS’s true thought comes ready at the same time, I think we need to learn to pause.

My experience is that I may not notice HS’s offering as my body may be filling with emotions of anger, fear, or self-righteousness as the mind absorbs the thoughts of the ego. Taking a moment to let the body get past the emotional wave then gives the space for HS’s true thought to be heard.
