ACIM Lesson 185 notes.

I want the peace of God.

“God gives but to unite.” (par.13)

The lesson theme is true for me although the text brought more understanding. I think of God’s peace as bringing ease to my life and taking away the difficulties. As the text points out, this idea is of this world, it is a means to deal with the world’s fluctuations.

The lesson teaches that peace is a gift from God that is innate in all of us and is to be shared.

My mind shows me my metaphor of the River of Love with me floating on it. I’m sensing that I am meant to think of peace in this way.

I am surrounded by the peace of God.
I now know that when I am feeling uneasy that I am resisting the flow of God’s Love.
Peace is within the flow.
Peace is disturbed when I resist the flow of Love through me.
When Love flows through me it carries the peace of God to others and into this world.

“I want the peace of God.”

I’ve got the peace of God because I have God’s Love.

“For you was peace created, given you by its Creator, and established as His own eternal gift.”

In the lesson it spoke of things we wish for more then the peace of God. I thought of my want for better connection to others. I can put that aside to not replace ‘Heaven and the peace of God’. I was given a gift when I read paragraph 13.

“No one can lose and everyone must gain whenever any gift of God has been requested and received by anyone. God gives but to unite. To take away is meaningless to Him. And when it is as meaningless to you, you can be sure you share one Will with Him, and He with you. And you will also know you share one Will with all your brothers, whose intent is yours.”

“God gives but to unite.”

God’s peace will unite me with my brothers and sisters.

“I want the peace of God.”

I ask, from my heart, my body, my mind, and my soul.

This is all I have ever wanted. Being an optimist, seeing the bright side, turning away from difficulties, have all been in the cause of wanting God’s peace on Earth … for me and for All. The lesson says that the peace of God is mine already. I ask for what He wills for me!

What if I have the peace of God now present in my life, but I expect that I am to be doing more?
